CONTENT GUIDELINES - EDITORIAL POLICY

Use as a public page (e.g., /content-guidelines) AND as your internal
checklist before publishing any submitted novel or chapter. These rules
are what makes the site defensible legally and stable commercially.

1. WHAT WE PUBLISH

Velvet Crown Tales publishes original works of romantic fantasy fiction
("romantasy") and licensed English translations from other markets
(Korean, Chinese, Japanese web novels with documented translation rights).
We focus on:
. Romance + fantasy hybrid (fae, dragons, monster romance, court intrigue,
alpha/omega, vampires, fated mates, enemies-to-lovers, mythic worlds)
. Adult readers - heat level explicit allowed; literary framing required
. Long-form serialized fiction (typically 50k+ words / 30+ chapters)

2. WHAT WE DO NOT PUBLISH

We REFUSE all submissions containing:
A. Illegal content (will result in immediate ban + report)
- Any sexual content involving characters under 18 ("aged-up" 17-year-
olds also rejected)
- Real persons in sexual situations without verified consent
- Content describing or instructing illegal acts against real people
- Non-fictional CSAM in any form
B. Content we choose not to host (commercial / brand decision)
- Non-consensual scenes presented favorably (consent-on-the-page only)
- Glorified incest between blood relatives
- Bestiality involving non-sapient animals
- Hate speech targeting protected groups
- Extreme graphic violence as the primary content (we are a romance
site, not a horror site)
- Plagiarism, AI-generated content submitted as original human work,
or fanfic of copyrighted franchises (Disney, Marvel, A Court Of
Thorns And Roses, Fourth Wing, etc.) without permission

3. AUTHOR DECLARATIONS - REQUIRED ON EVERY SUBMISSION

Before we publish, the contributing author must confirm in writing:
[ ] I am 18 years of age or older.
[ ] I own all rights to this work, OR I hold a documented translation
license from the original rights holder. (Attach proof for licensed
translations.)
[ ] All characters depicted in sexual or romantic scenes are at least 18
years of age within the story.
[ ] This work does not infringe trademarks, copyrights, or publicity
rights of real persons.
[ ] I understand that Velvet Crown Tales may remove this work at any time for
policy violations, and that repeated infringement will result in a
ban.
[ ] I have read and accept the Terms of Service and Content Guidelines.

4. HEAT-LEVEL LABELS

Tag every novel and chapter with a heat level. Readers filter on these.
?? Sweet - kissing, mild sensuality, no on-page sex.
?? Warm - fade-to-black, sensual but not explicit.
?? Steamy - on-page sex, moderately detailed.
?? Spicy - explicit on-page sex; multiple scenes.
??? Extra Spicy - very explicit, kink-on-page (consensual), high frequency.
?? Dark Romance - morally grey content; consent themes complex but on the
page. Include trigger warnings in chapter notes.

5. TRIGGER WARNINGS

Authors must add chapter-level trigger warnings for:
- Sexual assault references (even off-page)
- Self-harm, suicide references
- Eating disorders
- Domestic violence
- Body horror
A short note at the top of the affected chapter, behind a spoiler/blur tag,
is enough.

6. ENFORCEMENT

Editorial team reviews submissions within 14 days. Decisions:
- Approved ? schedule publishing.
- Revisions requested ? author has 30 days to update.
- Rejected ? reason given; resubmission allowed after substantive changes.
Once published, content can be removed at any time for:
- New evidence of plagiarism / unauthorized translation
- Reader-reported policy violation that holds up on review
- DMCA notice
- Author's own request (within reason)
Three policy strikes within 12 months = ban.

7. APPEALS

Authors may appeal a removal or rejection by writing to
[email protected] within 30 days. We will review and respond within
14 days.
