There is a terrifying, specific agony in becoming a machine.

I am pinned against the smooth, freezing surface of the obsidian altar, my spine arched so fiercely it feels like my vertebrae might snap. I cannot see the cavern. I cannot see Ciro or Mateo. My vision is entirely consumed by the blinding, incandescent white light of the crystallized blood tether binding my wrist to the mountain’s core.

The geode is starving, and I am its only source of kinetic life.

The magic drags my human heartbeat out of my chest, amplifying it until the sound of my own pulse echoes like cannon fire against the ruby-red walls of the cavern. It is drawing the oxygen back into the subterranean depths, re-pressurizing the citadel above us, but the structural load is too immense for a single human body. My veins feel like they are filled with boiling lead. My lungs seize. I am dying, rapidly and violently, on the altar of the founders.

    "Amaya!"

Ciro’s voice is a raw, tearing roar that barely cuts through the deafening hum of the magic. I feel his hands grab my shoulders, his immortal strength fighting desperately to pull me free from the altar. But he cannot move me. The magical gravity locking me to the tuning-fork casing is absolute.

"The tether is structural!" Mateo screams, his voice frantic. I feel the rush of displaced air as he drops to his knees beside the altar. "She’s the anchor! If we sever it, the atmospheric lock completely fails, and the backlash will vaporize her!"

"It’s draining her dry, Mateo!" Ciro snarls, his voice breaking with a terror I have never heard from the Marshal. "Her heart is going to burst!"

"Because she doesn’t have the cellular reserves to power a mountain!" Mateo shouts back, his hands slamming onto the smooth obsidian beside my head. "The casing needs an immortal reservoir, but it needs a human kinetic pump to cycle it. It’s pulling from her because the loop is open. We have to close the circuit!"

    "How?" Ciro demands.

"Complete fusion," Mateo says, the words breathless, heavy with the terrifying weight of their implication. "Blood, flesh, and resonance. All three of us. Simultaneously. We feed our immortal reserves directly into her nervous system while she pumps it into the mountain. But it has to be a flawless triad. If there is a single fraction of resistance between any of us, the magic will fracture, and it will kill us all."

The blinding white pain in my head recedes just enough for the engineer in me to understand the terrifying mathematics of Mateo’s plan. The mountain is an engine. I am the pump. But the fluid running through the engine is gone. They have to become the fluid. They have to bleed into me, and into each other, creating an unbroken ring of kinetic and magical energy.

    I force my eyes open.

Ciro is leaning over me, his face pale and stricken in the glaring light. The rigid, unyielding Marshal of Condor Citadel is entirely gone. In his place is a man completely laid bare, his amber eyes wide with panic and a profound, devastating love. Beside him, Mateo looks down at me, his dark hair falling wildly around his face, his expression stripped of all its roguish arrogance. He looks at Ciro, then back at me, his chest heaving.

They are immortal apex predators, but in this moment, they are completely at my mercy. They will not force this.

"Amaya," Ciro whispers, his voice trembling as his warm hands cup my face. "I will not lose you. And I will not lose him again. But we cannot take this from you. You have to let us in. All the way."

"If it is too much," Mateo adds, his fingers gently brushing the hair back from my sweaty forehead, "if you cannot bear it, tell us. We will try to break the altar, even if it means the sky falls on us. It is your choice."

My heart stutters, a painful, irregular beat against my ribs. The magic is clawing at my life-force, but looking up at the two of them—two halves of a shattered history that I have somehow managed to pull back together—I feel a fierce, unyielding surge of defiance. I am a siege engineer. I do not run from collapsing structures. I reinforce them.

"Do it," I gasp, my voice a ragged whisper. I reach out, my trembling hands grabbing the heavy woven collars of their tunics, pulling them down toward me. "Close the circuit. Both of you. Now."

There is no hesitation. The desperate need for survival instantly collides with the heavy, intoxicating gravity of our shared attraction.

Ciro’s hands drop to the heavy buckles of his armor, tearing the woven iron and leather away with brutal efficiency. Mateo sheds his dark, star-etched robes, tossing them onto the cavern floor. Within seconds, there is no armor, no faction colors, nothing but bare, freezing skin in the ambient glow of the geode.

They help me strip away my heavy canvas coat and the sweat-soaked layers beneath, their hands incredibly gentle despite their frantic speed. When my bare back hits the smooth, freezing obsidian of the altar, the contrast makes me gasp. But the cold does not last.

Ciro climbs onto the altar, his heavy, powerfully muscled body covering mine, taking my weight. Mateo moves behind him, kneeling at the apex of the stone.

"The blood first," Mateo murmurs, his voice dropping into a dark, melodic register that sends a heavy shiver straight to my core. "The foundation."

Mateo leans forward over Ciro’s shoulder. Ciro turns his head, exposing his throat. There is a century of betrayal, of hatred, and of profound grief between them, but as Mateo’s fangs descend and pierce the pale skin of Ciro’s neck, all of it evaporates into the blinding light. Ciro lets out a deep, rumbling groan, his head falling back against Mateo’s shoulder. At the exact same moment, Ciro grabs Mateo’s forearm, pulling it to his own mouth, and sinks his teeth into the astronomer’s wrist.

    The feedback loop is instantaneous.

The blinding white light of the tether on my wrist violently pulses. I can feel the massive, overwhelming surge of their shared immortal resonance crashing together—ice and fire, military steel and the vast, terrifying depth of the night sky. The magic in the cavern roars in response, a deafening frequency that vibrates my teeth.

"Amaya," Ciro gasps, his fangs withdrawing from Mateo’s wrist. His mouth is slick with immortal blood. His amber eyes are pitch black, dilated with primal hunger and overwhelming power.

He lowers his mouth to mine. I part my lips, drinking the blood straight from his tongue.

The taste is indescribable—copper, ozone, and pure, concentrated starlight. The moment the immortal blood hits my system, the agonizing, tearing pain in my chest vanishes. My human heart, which was tearing itself apart trying to power the mountain, suddenly finds its rhythm anchored by the vast, bottomless oceans of their endurance.

I pull Ciro closer, my hands tangling in his dark hair, kissing him with a desperate, ravenous heat. Mateo shifts, his hands sliding down my arms, his long fingers intertwining with mine. He presses his mouth to the sensitive skin just below my ear, his fangs grazing my pulse point before he bites down.

    I scream into Ciro’s mouth.

It is not pain. It is an absolute, catastrophic sensory overload. The blood magic amplifies every single nerve ending in my body. I feel the exact shape of Mateo’s mind, the brilliant, spatial geometry of his thoughts, flooding into me just as Ciro’s unyielding, protective strength wraps around my soul.

We are no longer three separate entities. The boundaries of flesh and identity are dissolving into the magic.

Ciro trails kisses down my jaw, his hands mapping the curve of my waist, his thumbs pressing into the dip of my hips. He parts my legs, settling himself firmly between my thighs. His skin is burning now, the friction of our shared resonance generating a massive, localized heat field that chases the freezing air from the altar.

"Tell me you are ready," Ciro demands softly, his breath hot against my collarbone. He shifts his hips, the hard, aching length of him pressing explicitly against my wet center.

"I am," I gasp, arching my back, my nails biting into his broad shoulders. "Ciro, please."

He thrusts upward, burying himself completely inside me in one smooth, devastating motion.

The physical connection triggers an explosive reaction in the geode. The ruby-red crystals surrounding the amphitheater suddenly flash, shifting color. They bleed from deep crimson into a brilliant, blushing pink, reacting to the absolute purity of the shared kinetic loop.

I sob, my head thrashing on the obsidian stone as the sheer magnitude of the pleasure hits me. Ciro sets a punishing, rhythmic pace, driving deep into my core. Every thrust forces their immortal energy through my veins, and my racing human heart pumps it directly out through the glowing tether into the mountain’s matrix. I am the bridge between their power and the world.

Mateo does not let me break. He anchors my upper body, his hands sliding over my bare breasts, his thumbs rolling over my tight, aching peaks. I writhe under his touch, caught between the brutal, beautiful grounding of Ciro’s body and the fluid, electric grace of Mateo’s hands and mouth.

Mateo pulls back from my neck, his dark eyes heavy with lust and an ancient, profound reverence. He leans over me, capturing Ciro’s mouth in a desperate, bruising kiss.

I watch them, my chest heaving, my body consumed by the friction of Ciro’s thrusts. The sight of the two men—former lovers, former enemies, now entirely surrendered to each other and to me—shatters the final, lingering barrier in my mind. The guilt I have carried since the silver mine collapsed, the belief that everything I touch eventually breaks, dissolves into the ether.

I have built a structure that can hold the weight of the sky.

Mateo breaks the kiss with Ciro, his breathing ragged, and looks down at me. "You are magnificent," he whispers, his voice thick with awe.

He shifts his position, moving his body over mine so I am bracketed by them both. Mateo guides himself to my mouth. I take him in, my tongue swirling around the hot, slick length of him, matching the desperate, driving rhythm Ciro is setting inside me. Mateo groans, his hips snapping forward, his hands tangling in my hair, his body trembling with the overwhelming surge of the magic cycling through us.

We are a closed circuit of flesh, blood, and aether. The physical pleasure is indistinguishable from the magical resonance. Every touch, every kiss, every shared drop of blood exponentially increases the power output of the altar.

"Amaya," Ciro grunts, his pace becoming frantic, his control completely fraying. The rigid discipline of the Marshal has been utterly eradicated by the raw, primal necessity of our union. "I can’t… hold it…"

"Don’t hold it," Mateo rasps, pulling back from my mouth to look at both of us, his obsidian eyes completely swallowed by the blinding light of the cavern. "Give it all to her. Give it to the mountain."

I wrap my legs tightly around Ciro’s waist, locking him flush against me. I reach up, my hands gripping the back of Mateo’s neck, pulling him down so our foreheads rest against each other.

"Together," I command them, the voice not entirely my own, but echoing with the ancient resonance of the citadel itself.

Ciro drives into me one final, devastating time, a roar of pure, unfiltered release tearing from his throat. He empties himself inside me, a searing flood of heat that feels like liquid sunlight. At the exact same second, Mateo shudders violently, his own climax washing over me, his fangs sinking gently into my shoulder to anchor himself as he completely unravels.

My own orgasm hits me like a tectonic shift.

It rips through my body, a violent, beautiful convulsion that seizes every muscle and completely obliterates my consciousness for a terrifying, euphoric second.

    The kinetic spike is apocalyptic.

The blinding white light of the tether violently expands, consuming the altar, consuming us, and exploding outward in a massive, concussive shockwave of pure aether.

The millions of ruby-red volcanic glass crystals lining the subterranean geode shatter.

They do not break into pieces; they transmutate. The deep, bloody crimson of the ancient vampire oaths—the magic of control, of martial law, of fear—is completely overwritten. The crystals turn a brilliant, blinding, perfect white.

We collapse against each other on the altar, a tangle of sweat-slicked limbs, gasping for air that is suddenly rich, heavy, and perfectly pressurized. The suffocating weight of the eclipse has been entirely banished from the cavern. The mountain is breathing. We did it. We restarted the core.

Ciro slumps heavily against my chest, his face buried in the crook of my neck, his broad shoulders heaving. Mateo rests his head on my stomach, his hand blindly finding Ciro’s and gripping it tight. I wrap my arms around both of them, tears mixing with the dust and sweat on my face, overwhelmed by the profound, absolute safety of their weight.

But the silence in the cavern only lasts for three heartbeats.

A deep, unnatural whine begins to emanate from the blinding white crystals above us. It is not the resonant hum of a stable machine. It is the high-pitched, terrifying shriek of a structure bearing ten times its maximum load capacity.

    I open my eyes.

The white light radiating from the altar is not stabilizing; it is compounding. The physical and magical union of two immortal apex predators and a human kinetic pump has generated a frequency of magic the ancient matrix was never designed to hold.

"Ciro," I gasp, my engineering instincts screaming through the euphoric haze of the aftercare.

Before he can lift his head, the first massive chunk of the geode’s vaulted ceiling detaches.

    It doesn’t fall.

The localized gravity field inside the cavern violently inverts, then shears sideways. The massive boulder of white crystal shoots horizontally across the amphitheater, smashing into the opposite wall with a deafening explosion of shrapnel.

"The gravity matrix is failing!" Mateo yells, scrambling off the altar and dragging his dark robes up from the floor. He looks at the ceiling in pure horror. "The power output is too high! The core can’t regulate the surge!"

Ciro is on his feet in a fraction of a second, hauling me up with him and wrapping my heavy canvas coat around my bare shoulders. The ambient air pressure in the cavern begins to fluctuate wildly, popping my ears.

The white crystals around the altar begin to crack, emitting violent, crackling arcs of magical lightning that scorch the obsidian floor. The energy we just poured into the mountain is trapped in the hollow geode, and it is frantically searching for an exhaust.

"It’s going to implode," I realize, my blood running cold as I look at the violently vibrating tuning-fork locked into the altar. The glass casing is fracturing under the pressure.

Another tectonic groan tears through the cavern. The ground beneath our feet bucks violently, throwing us toward the edge of the altar. The beautiful, blinding white magic we just created is destabilizing, collapsing in on itself to form a localized singularity.

If it implodes, it will instantly vaporize everything in the lower depths, and take the entire foundation of Condor Citadel with it before the eclipse even ends.
