    — She Fired the Billionaire Before Dawn

    HELENA

The digital clock on the nightstand reads 4:12 AM, casting a sharp, sterile white glow across the tangled silk sheets. Exactly two hours and forty-eight minutes before I walk into the boardroom at Axiom headquarters and publicly execute the man currently buried inside me.

I adjust my grip on his wrists, pinning them flat against the mattress. Dante exhales a ragged, heavy breath, his chest arching upward, seeking friction, seeking chaos. I refuse to give him the latter.

"Stay right there," I murmur, my voice low, commanding the exact cadence of the room. I ride him with deliberate, agonizing precision. Every downward press of my hips is calibrated to extract the maximum physical response while keeping the tempo entirely under my jurisdiction.

Dante’s jaw clenches. His dark eyes, usually alight with manic, unpredictable brilliance, are blown wide, dilated with pure, unadulterated need. He hates being restrained, hates the structure I impose on him, both in the laboratory and in this bed. And yet, his hips snap up to meet mine with a desperate, bruising force.

"Helena," he growls, the vibration of my name rumbling through his throat, transferring directly to my core. He twists his wrists, testing my hold. He is stronger than me, easily capable of flipping us and taking control, but we established this boundary when the night began. My terms. My pace.

"I said stay," I remind him, tightening my fingers around his forearms. The sweat on his skin makes it difficult, but I dig my nails in just enough to ground him.

"You’re killing me with this math, CEO," he bites out, a dark, wicked smirk pulling at the corner of his mouth despite the heavy glaze of lust in his eyes. "Always the fucking metrics. Break the rhythm. Let me—"

"No." I sink down fully, taking the absolute length of him, forcing a sharp, guttural groan from his lips. A violent shiver tears through my own spine, my muscles locking tight around him. The pleasure is blinding, a torrential flood of dopamine that threatens to overwhelm my prefrontal cortex. I force my mind to partition it. Sensation in one box. Execution in another.

    This is the last time.

I memorize the heat of his skin, the flex of his abdominal muscles, the way his pulse thrashes against the hollow of his throat. He is a genius. A visionary. He built Axiom from a single gene-sequencing patent into a forty-billion-dollar empire. But he is also a liability. A rogue variable that refuses to be contained. And in the business of human lives, uncontained variables are fatal.

    "Look at me," I demand.

His eyes snap to mine, burning with a feral intensity.

"Tell me you’re with me. Here. Right now." I need the verbal confirmation. I need the baseline established.

"I’m here," he breathes, his voice thick. "I’m yours. Completely."

It’s a lie, but it’s the one we both accept for the next ten minutes. I release his wrists, and his hands immediately span my waist, his long fingers biting into my flesh, anchoring me as he finally takes the initiative he’s been craving. He thrusts upward, deep and relentless. The sudden change in velocity shatters my control. The room blurs. The ticking clock fades. There is only the brutal, rhythmic impact, the slick heat between us, and the impending absolute zero of the morning to come.

I lean down, letting my hair fall like a curtain around our faces, and press my mouth to his. The kiss is tasting blood and oxygen, a desperate exchange of data. I climax with a sharp, involuntary cry, my body clenching around him like a vice. Dante follows a second later, his back bowing off the mattress, a harsh, fractured shout tearing from his throat as he empties into the condom.

For a long moment, the only sound in the penthouse is the erratic, synchronized rasp of our breathing. He pulls me down flush against his chest, his heart hammering against my sternum. His hand strokes the back of my neck—a gentle, protective gesture that makes my chest ache with a sudden, suffocating tightness.

"You okay?" he asks quietly, the adrenaline fading from his voice, replaced by that rare, soft lucidity he only ever shows in the aftermath. "I didn’t push too hard at the end?"

"I’m fine," I whisper, pressing a calculated, lingering kiss to his collarbone. "I have everything I need."

I wait exactly four minutes for his breathing to even out. The biological imperative of sleep pulling him under. Then, I slip out of the bed.

The marble floor of the en-suite bathroom is freezing. I strip off the residual heat of him and step into the shower. I turn the dial to cold. The shock of the water resets my nervous system. I wash away the sweat, the scent of his skin, the tactile memory of his hands. Decontamination.

By 4:45 AM, I am dressed in a charcoal Tom Ford suit. The tailoring is an armor of sharp lines and uncompromising structure. I check my reflection. Not a single hair out of place. No flushed skin. No visible pulse in my throat. I am the Chief Executive Officer of Axiom.

I walk back into the bedroom. Dante is asleep, one arm thrown over the empty space where I had been. On the glass side table, next to his discarded platinum watch, I place a glass of water and two ibuprofen. A final courtesy.

I touch the encrypted USB drive in my jacket pocket. It contains the raw, unaltered Phase III trial logs. The ones Dante thought he had successfully buried beneath layers of algorithmic obfuscation.

I turn my back on the bed and walk out the door. The lock clicks shut behind me, sounding exactly like a gavel.
